REVIEW -- AiZ: Alice in Zombieland

'Tis the HORRIFIC season! !

Hey PEOPLE, ghouls...etc! A while back (HERE), I told you all about an eBook called AiZ: Alice in Zombieland! Well! Here's my review on it!

Josh Cook's Alice in Zombieland is pure awesomeness! Pretty much the story line and it follows various characters, one being Alice, a girl with the potential to survive Rolan Global's second birth serum (SBS). This serum has the potential to control life, allowing people to neither live nor die, sticking them in a zombielike state but with a mental and physical awareness much like a living human. Richard Roslun seeks to make a fortune from the serum's successs, but not without a fight from Alice's sister, Gee, and friend Sam, who storm from Blake Island to retrieve Alice.

MY LIKES! Because of the title, I initially thought Alice in Zombieland was a comedy horror. I connected Alice in Wonderland to Zombieland. But the story like was actually serious, with lighthearted comedy spread throughout. However! My presumption did not keep me from enjoying the story. Even if you make the same mistakes I did, you won't be disappointed.

All of the characters are believeable. I can't figure out which one I like. Gee is very serious and witty, while Sam is hilarious and quirky! Josh did a great job of combining Alice's innocence and aggressiveness. Those two characteristics are usually hard to do for characters but Josh did a phenomenal job with that one!

The dialogue is awesome and easy to read. It sounds like you are right there listening to the conversations! Also, the setting is explained in an amazing way that comes to light in the reader's mind.

MY DISLIKES! The cover was cool, but in my opinion, I'm not sure if it fits the story. And since it is the first thing I saw, I didn't expect the high level of writing that followed. ALSO! I kept wondering if the story should have been written in past tense than present, it can be wordy in the present tense. This may be my personal preference, but you guys can read it and tell me what you think!

I would totally recommend this eBook to people! Usually, you have to direct entertainment to certain crowds, but Alice in Zombieland is different. Though it contains strong, scifi and horror elements, this story is enjoyable for everyone Pick it up and you'll definitely see what I'm talking about!

AiZ: Alice in Zombieland is now available on Amazon/Kindle and Smashwords! You can check out my interview with Josh Cook HERE! He's extremely laid back and talented. I fell in love with his AiZ: Alice in Zombieland!

I give AiZ: Alice in Zombieland 4 out of 5 queen skulls!

Zombie WATCH 2012!

I knew this day would come! I'm excited yet nervous because I've been in training before I can even remember; thanks to my awesome Mom and zombie paranoid siblings. Clearly, the government is trying to cover up the Zombie Apocalypse! [/end dramatic, scary music]

Anyway, if you haven't heard, a young man (Rudy Eugene) in Miami was eating off another man's face (Ronald Poppo). Yep...his face. Eating IT! And they both were naked. Reports said it was because the attacker had been suffering from a drug-induced psychosis which causes the body to heat up. It basically prompts some users to remove their clothes in an effort to cool down. Hmm...I thought it was because it's hot in Florida...

Suspecting Zombie: Rudy Eugene, 31, North Miami Beach.

Ronald Poppo, 65

The man who got his face eaten, Ronald Poppo, is in critical condition. I feel so horrible for the man. It's horrifying and sad at the same time. I couldn't imagine how he feels. There are some pictures surfacing on the web.

---

In another case, in New Jersey, a 43-year old man (Wayne Carter) was barricaded in his room with a 12-inch knife and planned on harming himself. The cops kicked in the door and ordered him (Wayne Carter) to drop the knife. Ignoring the officers’ orders, Carter allegedly began stabbing himself in the abdomen, neck and legs. BANANAS! The police tried to stop him from stabbing himself, so they decided to spray him with pepper spray. Perhaps, that would work. But no, it didn't. It actually just enraged him even more. That's when he started throwing his intestines and other pieces of his skin at the cops.

To make a long story short, the police called in the Bergen County SWAT team, who were able to eventually subdue Carter and get him to a hospital. He remains in critical condition. Ahem...they believe it was drugs or mental illness that led to this horrific incident.

If I was cop, after seeing some stuff like that--as much as I love horror movies, I'd just retire.

Suspecting Zombie: Alexander Kinyua, 21, Maryland

In the most recent zombie attack, 21-year-old Maryland resident Alexander Kinyua ate his roommates heart and part of his brain.  He now faces first degree murder. Kinyua's brother found what he thought was human remains in the basement at the family's house.

The brother told his father but when the father went downstairs to check it out--duh, Kinyua was cleaning out a canister and there were no signs of human remains. Kinyua's roommate, Kujoe Bonsafo Agyei-Kodie, was reported missing Friday. Although detectives have not positively identified the body, police say they have a strong suspicion it's the missing man since he went for a run but never returned.  As a result, the police department was able to get a search and seizure warrant and found body parts in the home. Body parts were also found in a nearby dumpster. Scary!

Basically, people are saying that in each zombified situation, the criminals were on this new party raver drug called "Satan's Bath Salts"

"CDC does not know of a virus or condition that would reanimate the dead (or one that would present zombie-like symptoms)."

I know we're all wishing for a zombie apocalypse, but this is just sad and I don't know if we are all ready for something like that! If it does happen and it's the running zombies...good luck to us all!

AiZ: Alice in Zombieland

I hope that everyone had an awesome New Year's Day/Night! This year, I'm doing something different. I have no resolutions. I'm going to continue to strive to be oh so much better than what I am! I'll let you know how that works out for me...

 WELCOME TO 2012!

The release of the eBook AiZ: Alice in Zombieland is now available on Amazon/Kindle and Smashwords! It was written by Joshua Cook! I interviewed him back in September which was so awesome! (You can check it out HERE!) He's extremely laid back and talented. I fell in love with his AiZ: Alice in Zombieland!

Just so you know what you're getting yourself into, AiZ: Alice in Zombieland is about the world as we know it has changed. People still go to work and children still go to school. Politicians lie and people die... but not everybody stays dead. Thanks to experiments run by Roslun Global, the largest pharmaceutical company in the world, death may be an option and not an absolute. The head of Roslun Global, Richard Roslun, is almost ready to unleash his Second Birth Serum on the world, but first he needs a test subject.

That is where a little girl named Alice comes in. After being attacked during a zombie outbreak, Alice was taken from her older sister, Georgia Marie. Determined to find her sister, Georgia must work with a man she has just met - Sam Ashe. Sam has recently had to murder his fiancee-turned-zombie, and has vowed to take revenge on the evil company that has caused everything. Can these two heroes find Alice and stop Richard Roslun before it's too late - or are we all doomed to live in a zombie apocalypse!

AiZ: Alice in Zombieland is the first Zombie A.C.R.E.S. story that is available ONLY in eBook format and it's only $1.49.  The cover art was done by Timothy Brand of Brand Graphics who also helps out with ZombieACRES.com.

AiZ: Alice in Zombieland is the precursor to the first Zombie A.C.R.E.S. comic series which debuts Spring 2012 with the artistic talents of Don Scherer from Ratatat Graphics and Dan Sosa from Danny Sosa Art.

I'd definitely recommend that you check out this eBook! I'll be doing a review on it as well as doing a FREE giveaway of this eBook! The giveaway will be very soon! Keep your eyes...open. O_O!!

Top 10 Zombie Films!

So, Creepmas is over! I must say, I didn't do a dandy job at sticking with my commitment with these 13 Days of Creepmas posts and do to that, I apologize! Thanks for those who did enjoy the post I did put out! So with that as a treat, I present to you the TOP 10 Zombie films!

This is a list of top 10 zombie films in my opinion that MUST be seen! Every horror fan....not just horror fan, EVERY film fan should really check out these movies as soon as he or she can! That is because I tried to put together a list of zombie films that are more than zombies running a muck, but a real zombie conflict filled with rabid zombie attacks where the living fight purely against the living dead. Doesn't that sound awesome?

Each movie that I listed have a great gore and kills, but I will not spoil that for you! As always, I rather you check it out yourself and you can be the judge, if you please! Anyhow, just remember while watching these awesome films, who recommended it! ;)

10. 28 Days Later -- 2002

An amazing updated zombie flick that is full of gore and running zombies. Yes, I know some people do not believe in running zombies...but aren't they cool? This film added something spectacular to zombies and indeed added fear to these new breed of zombies!

9. Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things -- 1973

It's a B rated film but should definitely not be swept underneath the rug! This movie involved an ancient ritual and clearly shows WHY you shouldn't do that kinda stuff!

8. Night of the Living Dead -- 1968

The black and white in this film shouldn't stop you from checking out this classic. It even still holds itself up high compared to the movies today.

7. Night of the Living Dead -- 1990

This is Tom Savini's magical, horror-a-tastical remake that was meant to be a tribute to the classic and truly is! Very entertaining and perhaps better than the original!

6. Day of the Dead -- 1985

George Romero did some awesome camera tricks to create the zombie infestation in this classic. This is a great living dead classic that shows how quick and easy zombie infestation can occur and, of course, what happens.

5. Dawn of the Dead -- 1979

Another Romero one and slightly different from many, MANY horror movies. Romero shoots this film a majority of the time in broad daylight or bright areas. It's very rare that a horror director isn't interested in the shadows or darkness. Very awesome that he did that. This film is kinda silly...well at least to me, but then again I laugh at inappropriate moments/things anyway. It focuses on a mall with survivors trapped inside and zombies nearby.

4. Dead Alive -- 1992

If you can honestly stomach gore...this film is the one for you!

3. Zombieland -- 2009

In comedy/horror the world is over run by zombies and there are rules to follow!

2. The Return of the Living Dead -- 1985

An awesome CLASSIC and a must see! "Send more paramedics!"

1. Zombie -- 1979

Lucio Fulci....allows all your gore dreams to come true! Fulci's zombies are oober slow, even slower than Romero's zombies, which isn't a bad thing! As the army of zombies come shuffling all stiff towards you, watch out, you may be creeped out!

Clearly! If you made it through the whole list...you MUST be a zombie fan! Well rock on. I know I missed many, but just let me know what your TOP 10 Zombie Films are!

The Active Set - Famous For Dying

I feel so awful because a couple of weeks ago I received an email from Steve from IndieRoque. He gave me a link to an awesome band to check out. The band is called The Active Set and the video he wanted me to check out was called Famous For Dying. This video rocked my life--not only for the music, but also because the video has zombies in it!

I enjoyed the song and I enjoyed the music video. So! I thought it'll be an awesome idea to share it with everyone here. I thank Steve for putting me on to an awesome song! I hope you all enjoy the song/video and you can thank me later! :P

The Active Set may be too mainstream to be true 'indie'; however, they have enough quirky and unconventional bits, making them too indie for the mainstream. Result: Limited fanbase!

It came with with a cool coupon for $5.00 off the next shirt I buy, so yay, a deal! It's a simple shirt but I thought it was cool, plus I need to step my zombie shirt collection up.

Also, I got a size small but obviously the shirts aren't form fitting, its loose but still looks great. It's great to wear if you're dressing down & just want to be comfortable!
