“I hate to ask you this, but are you sure you’re not the killer,” Chuck asks casually into the phone, waiting for an answer from her panicking, blood-drenched friend miles away at summer camp.

Film Review 25 -- Chillerama

Chillerama was officially released September 16th, 2011. It's an anthology film, which was directed by Adam Rifkin, Joe Lynch, Tim Sullivan and Adam Green. It's an awesome film that celebrates and embraces the golden age of B rated horror! It also goes through four decades of cinema with something outrageously awful for everyone!

I enjoyed Chillerama because I love cheesy horrors, and because of that, I give it 4 out of 5 queen skulls!

FILM -- Beetlejuice

This FANTASTICAL film was directed by awesome Tim Burton and was released March 30th, 1988. Even though this film is over 20 years old, people will be watching it for years to come.

If you've never seen this movie, you're lame. With that said...on to the review. This movie is pretty much about newlyweds who are killed in a ridiculous car acciden. Now, they aren't in heaven; instead, they are on a looooong waiting list. So, they're ghost stuck in their used to be big, isolated home in Maitland, Maine. Before they can earn their wings, the two must occupy their old house as ghosts for the next fifty years. Sadly, their home soon comes under the ownership of the Deetz family!

The two newlyweds, horrified that they have to share their home with this obnoxious family, try to scare the Deetz family out. But their scaring tactics are insanely lame. Oober desperate, they seek help from Beetlejuice, the profane, sex craved, grossed out spirit. The issue is that Beetlejuice is not at all trust worthy and does not work well with others. He also falls for the Deetz gloomy "My whole life is a black room" daughter Lydia.

It's a wonderful movie....one of my favorites filled with awesomeness and all sorts of creatures and ghosts! What a joy! I can watch this movie back to back with no compliants whatsoever!

RANDOM! I hear that there is going to be a sequel to this movie. It was supposed to happen back in the early 90s but there were some disagreements, so the film was never made. It was supposed to be Beetlejuice in Hawaii or something, he followed the Deetz family there. Anyhow...not sure as of yet when the film will be released or even if they started working on it. But I did read that Michael Keaton wants to be Beetlejuice; so, joy! HOWEVER! It could all just be a rumor...

H A L L O W E E N            2 0 1 1

Anyway. I totally recommend this movie! This is a great movie, suitable for ANY watching occasion. SO! Yeah. I give this movie 4 out of 5 queen skulls!

Film Review 23 -- Dylan Dog: Dead of Night!

Check out this past Madhouse Monday's movie review on Dylan Dog: Dead of Night! This film was based off an Italian comic by Tiziano Sclavi! The film was released April 29th, 2011 and directed by Kevin Munroe. This film had potential but it slacked major. Brandon Routh, in my opinion, was just not believable. Possibly if it was someone else casted as Dylan Dog maybe the film would have been successful.

Interview -- J.S. Bannerman, Creator of Pitchfork Diaries

THE APEX OF TERROR

The Pitchfork Diaries is a collection of short stories and prose unlike anything you have ever read before. Even the darkest and most violent imaginings of your mind cannot come close to matching the horrors contained within.

J.S. Bannerman, a new name in the horror genre, has skilfully woven a collection of tales that will inescapably work their way into your psyche, take up residence and relentlessly haunt you. Prepare yourself to be confronted by words that will threaten to shake the foundation of everything you thought you knew; no truth is too uncomfortable, no thought too gruesome to share.

All are invited to read The Pitchfork Diaries. Many will never be the same.

---------

---------

Born and raised in the church, J.S. Bannerman has taken the dangerous stance to question events that have been spoon fed to him as the truth since his childhood. He continually pushes boundaries as a purveyor of terror and often strives to find that disquietude that exists inside each one of us.

He is a nomad, calling no one place home; choosing the life of a traveler while on the mission of writing the Family of Dog series. As a result you may find him in your town, writing at your local pub, crafting tales of horror so terrifyingly depraved and heartbreakingly cruel that you would never believe that they come from a mind as normal as his. Just beware, because within each tale is a message; it’s just up to you to figure out what it means.

An excerpt from his book:

Packaging Hell

He boarded the aeroplane due to simple, morbid curiosity more than anything else. He had experienced all of the thrills that he had thought life had to offer him; a self-made billionaire, he had swum in the ocean of pleasures that only the filthily rich ever knew. Drunk with the joys of wealth, he had sipped champagne from diamond flutes, snorted cocaine off the pert breasts of the wives of rich Arab oligarchs, hunted endangered species; whatever the forbidden pleasure, whatever the sin, he had done it all.

This, though – watching someone as they engaged in sexual intercourse, knowing that they were sharing a virus that would inevitably lead to death after their final orgasm – no, this was something else entirely! He did not think that he had ever heard of something so erotic, and to know that it had the potential to add to his fortune was an equally stimulating thrill.

I was able to ask JS Bannerman some quick questions:

1) What was the inspiration for Pitchfork Diaries?
Mankind and the filth it has become. The thought at the end of the book is that the things you just read could possibly be real is why it is terrifying.

2) What was the process and how long did it take to complete Pitchfork Diaries?
The idea actually came from a few parts of my full length (The Family of Dog: The Harvest) that just did not fit at all, So it was mentioned I should do a collection of short stories and so began The Pitchfork Diaries.

I wrote the book in about 2 months time at a pub called McFinns in Oklahoma City. I write 3 nights a week usually for 6 hours a night. It was actually quite a fresh breath of air to just write stories and step away from the complicated tale of Harvest because Harvest is part of a trilogy and has many tangled themes running through it so Pitchfork was a break in a way though it turned out to be much more extreme and sinister than Harvest.

3) How long have you been writing?
I started writing in February of 2011.

4) Who are your favorite writers?
Dr. Suess and Silverstine and Fredric Neitchze.

5) What is your next project?
The Harvest is complete and just waiting for release on Christmas day. My main priority between now and Christmas is to push Pitchfork and gear up for the press blitz for HARVEST, I have an awesome crew around me The Goat Gals will kick your ass!

Thanks for having me here Zena. Your support is awesome!
J.

FILM: Rubber -- 2010

Ugh...I watched this movie about 2 weeks ago and wanted to delete it from my brain, but instead, I'm going type out all my anger here. So, excuse me if it gets a bit much. Quentin Dupieux is the one who directed and wrote this. I'm apologize, Mr. Dupieux, in advance! As an inspiring filmmaker, I always feel AWFUL when I see horrid movies because that's someone's work! Hard work! I feel bad for everyone who took part of that movie and it makes me sad...

This movie is about a tire, yes, a tire and his name is Robert. Robert was abandoned in the desert and suddenly, for NO REASON AT ALL, he comes alive. Robert is rolling around the desert--and oh yeah, he has telepathic powers. Robert has the ability to destroy anything he wishes without rolling/moving anywhere. He attacks little things at first, like animals and what not. Then he starts to attack humans, and it's..."chaos."

Yeah...so I heard people tried to compare this movie to Christine (1983) HA! I'm still trying to see how... BESIDES from the whole inanimate object thing. Besides that, I got nothing...because the film Christine was a classic automatically for me and it had a cool story line, whereas this film's story line...was just slapped together, so it seems.

I don't care what anyone says, this film sucked. I didn't find it funny, nor will I ever find it funny. I'm cool with comedy horrors but I thought this was just stupid. The whole time this film was going on I was aggravated--yeah, I was aggravated with the film and its ridiculousness--but I was more aggravated with MYSELF because I sat there and watched the whole thing. My poor eyes and ears. :( For those of you who have seen it and are saying "Oh, it wasn't that bad!", you're a liar. I'm joking...but seriously, after seeing that movie ONCE, did you ever watch it again?? I would hope not. Unless you genuinely enjoyed it then...hey ok, live your life and enjoy it.

I wouldn't recommend this movie to anyone honestly, but I know there are people out there who loved this movie. So to those who enjoyed it, I'd truly love to know why. I'm thinking maybe I just didn't get it or I'm not seeing it correctly. Help?
