HISTORY -- Annabelle Doll

I don't know about any of you, but I enjoy a good ol' fashion spooky story. It takes a lot to freak me out, but I thought this was creepy, so why not share?! Sharing is caring after all, and clearly, I share a lot...therefore I do care!

Some of you may remember from the film The Conjuring the evil possessed doll named Annabelle. But what some of you don't know is that it's based off a true story! *cue the thunder* Yep, she's real and she's in Ed and Lorraine Warren's spooky museum. And at this point, if you didn't know Ed & Lorraine Warren were real, I'm going to need you to say a prayer to Jesus to repent for your cluelessness. Anyhow, Director James Wan redesigned Annabelle for the movie and made her look more realistic and disturbing. The real Annabelle is just a regular raggedy Ann doll.

A young, college student named Donna received the doll in 1970 from her Mother as a gift. Her Mother bought the used doll from a hobby store. Donna was living with a roommate named Angie and at first there wasn't anything happening with the doll. It was just a doll. Then, over time Donna and Angie both believed that Annabelle had moved on her own. At first, it was just subtle, hardly noticeable, as if the wind blew. Of course the movements increased, Annabelle would be left on Donna's bed and when the girls returned they would find the doll on the couch.

The girls had a friend named Lou who absolutely hated the doll. Lou thought there was something off about the doll, something evil. *cue random eerie music* Like in all horror movies, the girls never listen during these early stages, it always takes something far much more drastic! These young woman believed there had to have been a reasonable explanation. Perhaps, a cat jumped in through their window while the girls weren't home, played with the doll and simply forgot to put Annabelle back. Perhaps, the cat even made a tuna sandwich. You get the point!

As time went on, Annabelle's actions were creepier and creepier. Donna began finding pieces of parchment paper through their place with messages written on it; "Help us" or "Help Lou". The bananas part of this is that no one in the house had parchment paper. I personally would have gotten rid of the doll the instant I felt something wasn't right! Forget the wind, that thing just moved, and now, it's moving out of here.

Donna decided that enough was enough the night she returned home to find Annabelle in her bed with some sort of red liquid that looked like blood on her hands.  Donna took Annabelle to a medium. The history Donna received from the medium dated before their apartment complex was ever built, a time when the property was just a field. A seven year old girl named Annabelle Higgins was found dead in that field. Her spirit remained, and when the doll came into the house, the 7 year old's spirit went into the doll. Reminds me of Child's Play! The little girl found Donna and Angie to be trustworthy and wanted to stay with them. Being nursing students and all, Donna and her roommate Angie agreed to let Annabelle stay with them.

Basically, they were told that the doll was harmless!

Now, here is where things turn to the pure pits of hell. Remember Lou, the friend who thought there was something evil about Annabelle? Well! Lou started to have horrible dreams about Annabelle in his bed, climbing up his leg as he laid there unable to move. She would slide up to his chest then to his neck, strangling him with her soft, cotton-filled hands! Lou would wake up terrified and sweaty, heart pounding. This worried Lou because he worried about Donna and Angie since they were under the same roof as Annabelle.

Days later, Lou and Angie were in the middle of planning to take a road trip when they heard someone moving around in Donna's room. They both thought that someone may be breaking into the room since Donna wasn't home. Lou went to check it out, what a gentleman! Before entering the room, Lou listened at the door. He then entered the room and everything looked just about normal except for Annabelle. She wasn't sitting on her bed, she was sitting in a corner. Lou began walking towards Annabelle when he felt like someone was behind him, so he turned to look and there was no one there. He turned back when all of sudden he felt a sudden pain on his chest. Lou looked down at his shirt and saw a ripped, claw mark on his shirt that pierced into his skin.

Lou was no fool, he knew Annabelle had done this!

The claw marks that Lou endured healed quickly and within two days had completely gone. Weird! At this point, they knew they needed more help so they turned to an Episcopalian priest and the priest turned to Ed and Lorraine Warren! Of course, it didn't take the Warrens long to come to their conclusion. There was no ghost spirit in the doll. There was however, a demon attached to the doll. They warned that the doll wasn't possessed since demons don't possess things, only people. However, the demon was clinging to the doll, manipulating it in order to give the impression that the doll was haunted. What the demon really wanted was Donna's soul.

So, a priest performed an exorcism on the apartment where Donna and Angie stayed, while the Warren's took possession of the doll. They put the doll in a bag and began their long drive home. Ed didn't drive on the highways since he wanted to avoid an accident that the demon may cause. Instead, they took the back roads. The car's engine kept cutting off, the brakes gave them trouble and the power steering kept failing. Ed had to open the bag the doll was in and sprinkle holy water on the doll for these disturbances to end.

(Patrick Wilson who played Ed Warren in The Conjuring with the real Annabelle doll!)

Once Ed and Lorraine arrived at their place, Ed left the doll on his desk where it began levitating. Within the next couple of weeks, Annabelle was back to her old ways. She started appearing in different rooms in the Warren's home. The Warren's called a Catholic priest to exorcise Annabelle. The priest didn't take it seriously; therefore, on his way home his car brakes failed, resulting in a horrible accident that left him injured and his car completely totaled.

The Warren's built a locked case for Annabelle where she resides to this day. The locked case has kept the doll from moving around, but whatever terrible entity is attached to it is still there; still there waiting for the day it is free again.

And that my creepy lovers, is the true tale of Annabelle! If you would like more info, I put some links below for you to check out!
