Upcoming Horrors for June 2013

HAPPY JUNE !!!

HOLY CRAP! It's June!!! Well, it's definitely time for me to jump back into sharing the list of all the oh-so-delightful horrors that are coming out this month! In the world of horror, it doesn't matter if it's straight to DVD or theaters--horror is HORROR!

If you've already checked any of the movies out, please let me know; or if you plan on checking any out...let me know anyway! Or! If I'm missing any, LET ME KNOW!


Sadako 3D - RELEASE DATE: June 4th, 2013

So, this film is somewhat connected to The Ring. Remember the whole haunted video tape passed from different people spreading the curse? Well, yeah, with the technology these days, it's not only a tape anymore! Sadako, the vicious spirit, is waiting to kill. She's hungry and wants souls and blood. Her hunger may be fed at a local high school where there is talk about a video online of someone committing suicide. So...yeah.

V/H/S 2 - RELEASE DATE: June 6th, 2013

This follow-up of the film goes in further to the demented path. It's a modern horror filled with new discoveries. The sadistic videos of V/H/S 2 are a result of a second generation with even more gore, horror and madness within this all new anthropology.

The Purge - RELEASE DATE: June 7th, 2013

In America, the government has sanctioned an annual 12-hour period in which any and all criminal activity—including murder—is legal. So...if someone is trying to murder you, you can't call the police. Well...I'm sure you can call, but they will not come. Not even hospitals will help. It is the only night when the citizenry regulates itself without thought of punishment. And on this night that's plagued by pure violence and crime, one family wrestles with the decision of who they will become when a stranger comes banging on the door for help.

The personalities of two former baseball players clash as they travel back roads of a post-plague New England, where the undead is swarming.

Rapture-Palooza - RELEASE DATE: June 7th, 2013

The apocalypse finally happens and billions of people are raptured up to heaven, except for Lindsey and her boyfriend Ben, who are left behind in suburban Seattle. The young couple try their best to continue to live a normal life although they are surrounded by talking locusts, blood rain showers and pot-smoking wraiths. But it all becomes a bit more difficult when the Beast makes his home base in their neighborhood. And lucky for Lindsey, she becomes the object of his affection! Soon the couple find themselves setting out to stop the Anti-Christ from taking her as his bride and maybe, JUST MAYBE, they can save the world in the process.

This Is the End - RELEASE DATE: June 12th, 2013

In this comedy yet...horrific setting, six friends are trapped in a house after a series of strange and catastrophic events destroy Los Angeles. The world unravels outside, and inside supplies dwindle and cabin fever threatens to tear apart the friendships. Eventually, they are forced to leave the house, facing their fate and the true meaning of friendship and redemption.

Berberian Sound Studio - RELEASE DATE: June 14th, 2013

Set in 1976: Gilderoy is hired to orchestrate the sound mix for the latest film by Italian horror maestro, Santini. As time and realities shift, Gilderoy is lost in a spiral of sonic and personal mayhem and has to confront his own demons in order to stay afloat.

Hatchet III - RELEASE DATE: June 14th, 2013

In this one, a search/recovery team goes into the haunted swamp to basically clean up the disaster that was left behind from the first two films. One of the search/recovery members, Marybeth, finds out the true secret to end the voodoo curse that has left the ghost of Victor Crowley terrorizing Honey Island Swamp for decades!

Apartment 1303 3D (remake) - RELEASE DATE: June 17th, 2013

A love/hate relationship between a mother and daughter turns into a tale of horror when she moves out and into her first apartment.

The Haunting of Helena - RELEASE DATE: June 18th, 2013

This film is going to represent a new twist on the legend of the Tooth Fairy. After a divorce, Sophia moves to the south of Italy with her daughter, Helena. Helena loses her first baby tooth, beginning a chilling obsession that starts to haunt her in her sleep. Her nightmares soon become reality.

World War Z - RELEASE DATE: June 21st, 2012

The story revolves around United Nations employee Gerry Lane, who travels the world in a race against time to stop the Zombie pandemic that is toppling armies, governments and threatening to decimate humanity itself.

Liars All - RELEASE DATE: June 21st, 2013

The story of a group of friends celebrating New Year’s Eve in London by playing a provocative game that ultimately gets terribly out of control.

Maniac - RELEASE DATE: June 21st, 2013

This is a reboot of the cult classic, that many people consider the most suspenseful slasher movie ever made. Frank is the withdrawn owner of a mannequin store, but his life changes when young artist Anna appears asking for his help with her new exhibition. As their friendship develops and Frank’s obsession escalates alongside the number of murder victims, it becomes clear that Frank is far more dangerous than he seems.

Europa Report - RELEASE DATE: June 27th, 2013
A group of astronauts, handpicked from around the world, will make the journey to Jupiter’s moon, Europa in search of extraterrestrial life. The team will encounter something far more intimidating and unpredictable.

Byzantium - RELEASE DATE: June 28th, 2013

Two mysterious women seek refuge in a run-down coastal resort. Clara meets lonely Noel, who provides shelter in his deserted guesthouse, Byzantium. Meanwhile, a school girl named Eleanor befriends a man and tells him their lethal secret. They were born 200 years ago and survive on human blood. As knowledge of their secret spreads, their past catches up to them with deathly consequence.

    Oh.. I watched "the Apparition" recently, and even though the idea of the film was AWESOME.. the execution didn't do it for me... It left a lot of, HUH?, moments.

  3. Wow, actually some good ones coming out this month! Saw Maniac last month and it is definitely worth a look. I'm excited for Hatchet 3, V/H/S 2, World War Z (need to read the book first, though) and possibly The Purge, although I haven't heard much about it yet.
