4 St. Patrick’s Day Horror Movies That Don’t Involve Leprechauns

Happy St. Patrick's Day! ☘️ Here's a list of four St. Patrick's Day themed horror movies that don't involve leprechauns.

I think it's time to start a new tradition when it comes to St Patrick's Day horror movies. I can't be the only one that wants other options beyond the Leprechaun series.

GOD TOLD ME TO (1976)

When it comes to this movie, it's best if you know little going in. Seriously, I cannot think of another film a storyline this entertaining, engaging and unpredictable. It is a bit dated, especially when it comes to the effects, being that it was made in the mid 70s. However, the acting is still genuine.

Director Larry Cohen tackles a slasher that takes place at aSt. Patrick's Day parade.

Synopsis: A New York detective investigates a series of murders committed by random New Yorkers who claim that "God told them to."

BOY EATS GIRL (2005)

Although this movie doesn't have anything to do with St. Patrick's Day, it takes place in Ireland. This is a teen comedy zombie movie that's very delightful. I know "delightful" may sound like a weird word to use to describe this movie, but it's true. I'm a sucker for zombie movies, and it also helps that this is a very sweet movie that's full of gore.

Synopsis: A boy declares his love for his girlfriend, only to die the same night. He is brought back to life by his mother as a flesh-craving zombie, who sires more teen undead while trying to control his appetite for his beloved.

MANIAC COP (1988)

Another one from Larry Cohen! This movie is far from perfect, but it's definitely a lot of fun. It's a slasher movie with a unique, comedic spin.

Synopsis: A killer dressed in a police uniform begins murdering innocent people on the streets of New York City.

WAKE WOOD (2011)

From Hammer Films comes this horror drama about grieving parents. But don't be fooled. Just because it has some dramatic moments doesn't mean it's not filled with gore!

While Wake Wood may not be for everyone, it does have captivating moments that had me thinking about it for weeks. This movie feels very old school and has the same emotional feel as Don't Look Now and Pet Sematary

Synopsis: The parents of a girl who was killed by a savage dog are granted the opportunity to spend three days with their deceased daughter.
