FILM -- Prom Night

This remake isn't a remake...in fact, to me, it just so happens to have the same title as the 1980 classic Prom Night, directed by Paul Lynch and starring Jamie Lee Curtis.

Anyhow, this review is on the 2008 -- Prom Night, directed by Nelson McCormick and released April 11th, 2008. The film starts off with a young girl named Donna who returns home one night to find that her psycho stalking teacher, Mr. Richard Fenton, has murdered her whole family except for her mom...at least not yet. Donna hides underneath the bed, covering her mouth and watching her teacher who demands to see Donna at once. Furious at not receiving an answer, he stabs her mother several times as she watches!

Poor Donna is clutching over her own mouth in horror, witnessing her mom being gutted. Blah, blah...the police come and stop Mr. Fenton and his pure BLOODY sheningans. Fast forward three years later--Donna survives that splatter party and Mr. Richard Fenton is somewhere in a psycho ward.

Donna still has nightmares about her splatter witnessing but she’s coping. She's ready to party since prom night is right around the corner. She has a loving boyfriend and four other friends to party with. Unfortunately, for Donna and friends, Mr. Fenton has escaped! (SCARY MUISC PLAYS) He's in shadows watching Donna and anyone who gets too close to her all night long. I'll stop there to avoid spoilers--in case anyone is interested in seeing this flick!

I remember back in '08, I actually wanted to see this movie. I went to the theaters and all. Yep...I sure did. Anyhow. I was disappointed in this movie but it's not as HORRID as people claim it to be. It's actually entertaining in a cliche-I-know-what's-going-to-happen kinda way. It's NOTHING like Prom Night 1980 as I stated before, they made it into something else, which really isn't too horrible since remakes are happening regardless of my endless rants. I just wish that they explained/showed WHY Mr. Fenton was so obsessed with Donna. It was weird because they never did...like ever.

Sooo....this movie was predictable but entertaining. I wouldn't really recommend this movie unless you'd only plan on watching this movie once. That would be good enough. Also, I guess I can see why some people liked it. Anyhow, because I wasn't completely disgusted with this movie, just lost and scramble-y sometimes, I'm going to give this film 2 out of 5 queen skulls.

Has anyone seen this movie? More importantly, did you go to your prom?

TRAILER -- The Zombinator

Director Sergio Myers wants to introduce you to his new cult hero, The Zombinator. Currently seeking distribution, The Zombinator hopes to be coming to a theater near you very soon.

The film is about a fashion blogger documentary that turns into a zombie horror nightmare when college students in Youngstown, Ohio come eye to eye with the undead! Ohhhh!! And now, their only hope of survival is a former soldier turned zombie killer. This guy is trying to protect them from a mercenary working for an evil corporation who developed the serum that causes people to become zombies or perhaps take on-- zombie-ISM???? Anyway! For more info on this film, be sure to check out and support their Facebook! Check out the trailer below! It totally rocked my life and I can't wait to check out the actual movie!

FILM POSTER -- The Possession

On August 31st, 2012 this awesometastical film directed by Ole Borneda will be released! I just HAD to post the film poster up...had to! For more information on the film, you can check out their Twitter or Facebook!

The Possession is the terrifying story of how one family must unite in order to survive the wrath of evil. Clyde and Stephanie Brenek don't care when their youngest daughter Em becomes oddly obsessed with an antique wooden box she bought at a yard sale. As Em’s behavior becomes more erratic, the parents Clyde and Stephanie fear the presence of a malevolent force surrounding them. They soon discover that the box was built to contain a 'dibbuk', a dislocated spirit that inhabits and ultimately devours its host.

Doesn't it sound ooberly creepy? Joy! Hopefully, this is another great film on it's way to become a part of the horrific kingdom!

FILM -- Popularity Killer

So, I had the awesometastical pleasure of checking out Slasher Studios very own film Popularity Killer. It's a dark comedy horror short with just a $5,000.00 budget and only seven filming days. This film was directed by Steve Goltz and written by Kevin Sommerfield. I love independent filmmakers' films. You can always see the hard work and of course they usually have a good taste for gore. So obviously, I was thrilled to spend 19 minutes checking out this film!

It pretty much starts off with a teenage girl named Caitlin. She is found murdered in back of her school, Payton High. There are mixed feelings on the girl's death because some people didn't really care for her. Now a group of teens at Payton High is kind of on edge; however, their fears don't stop them from wanting to party more. They actually decide to have a horror movie party due to the circumstances! Plus, Caitlin's boyfriend, who is a possible suspect in her murder, is attending. Soon, the teens try to discover who is killing the most popular students in school. Their friends are dying off one by one in such blunt ways!

So, this film wasn't what I thought it was going to be but not a bad way. It was actually refreshing. The only thing is that I wanted the characters to be a bit more developed. I didn't really have a connection or feel a certain way for any of them. I did notice the music in the film and thought that it fit very well though I wouldn't have settled for some of the sound effects. Overall, I did enjoy this film and thought it was filmed awesomely. I was very impressed by the shots and camera angles. Also, the actors performed impressively! I recommend this film for people who know how to enjoy independent films and appreciate slasher horrors! The art of gore in this film was pretty sensational! I give this film 3 out of 5 queen skulls! I was very impressed!
