TOP 10 MOST FRIGHTENING TV SHOWS!

You know, I realized that straight-up horror is rare on TV these days. It's always mixed with something else, rather if it's Romance or Comedy! Even if that's the case, I love creepy horror shows! So, with that, I thought it would be too hard to put in order, so I decided that there is no order! BECAUSE! We need to celebrate horror for all what it does! So here is the list I gathered that has in my opinion some of the best horror TV shows that rocked my existence!

10. Are You Afraid of the Dark? -- (1992-1996)

Yeah, it was on Nickelodeon, but don't lie! I'm pretty sure every time the theme song started you had chills...Anyway, a group of kids call themselves "The Midnight Society" and they soend each episode sitting around a campfire swapping scary stories. The stores are creepy but never gory or too crazy but come on! It was on Nickelodeon! What do you expect?

9. American Gothic -- (1995-1996)

Sadly, no one really remembers this creepy, addicting show. I used to love this show...I think I was about 8 years old watching it religiously! The series took place in Trinity, SC and this small town had a lot HUGE problems. Specifically, there was an evil Sheriff, Sheriff Buck who was a murderer, rapist, basically the devil living on Earth paying his bills...and everything horrid you can think of. To me it was pretty terrifying even when I think back on today as an adult. The main character Caleb (He was the main dude in Fast in Furious Tokyo Drift) is a little boy whose mother was raped by the sheriff, then committed suicide after giving birth to Caleb. I would give out more info..but I may spoil some stuff so I shall not!

8. Alfred Hitchcock Presents -- (1955-1962)

Alfred Hitchcock, the master of suspense hosted this show. The stories were short hosted this by the puppet master of suspense himself. These short stories were scary because there were always a dark secret a character kept.

7. The Outer Limits -- (1995-2002)

Although it was mixed with scifi...with the whole smiling spider creatures but it did have twisted, nightmarish HORROR galore!

6. Supernatural -- (2005-PRESENT)

Supernatural DOES have some comedy but it has some great horror in for it a TV show and has been for the past couple of years. I mean, these guys are dealing with all sorts of creatures, demons and other horrific beings and all sorts of fires of hell...that's pretty creepy stuff!

5. The Walking Dead -- (2010-PRESENT)

What an awesome serious, where it has a perfect mix; drama/horror. It's based off the comic books by Robert Kirkman! The whole storyline is just so eerie and dreadful plus it does have a couple of good scares here and there.

4. The X-Files -- (1995-1996)

Has any other series come up with more terrifying creatures than the aliens from X-Files with their elaborate plans and black oil dealings? What made X-Files truly horror wasn't the freak of the week monsters, but the elaborate conspiracy theory beasts that were never fully revealed until the final showdown. And the pay off was always epic. OK, the freak of the week beasts were pretty scary too! The episode "Home" still haunts our dreams.

4. The Twilight Zone -- (1959-1964/1985-1989)

The Twilight Zone loved to scare us all by giving each character in the different stories EXACTLY what they wanted! An example that will forever stay in my mind, the little man with the HUGE glasses, Burgess Meredith. All he wanted was peace and quiet so he could read, then the world ends and he's the last man on the face of the Earth with plenty of reading material...like books galore! Then! He breaks his bottle cap glasses. LOL! I'm sorry...I shouldn't laugh but it was awful!

3. True Blood -- (2008-PRESENT)

In a world where vampires are indeed living and known, a waitress whose telepathic and has a split, Sookie Stackhouse, discovers a new world of different creatures when she meets Bill Compton, a vampire. I used to adore True Blood so much...but somewhere along the lines I kinda just was over the show. I don't know if I was disgusted by Sookie's body...I'm sorry--she's like naked 98% of time and I just don't dig her naked body on my screen everywhere. Perhaps if I was a 13 year old boy going through puberty or man wanting to look at some knockers..I'd have no complaints! It just seems like it's getting too sloppy and it's overhyped with crazed fans who only watch because Vampires are trending right now. Ugh...one day, I'm sure I'll like it again--hopefully.

2. Tales From The Crypt -- (1989-1996)

I love the terrifying TV gore in this show as well as the Crypt Keeper's face. At the time, the Crypt Keeper raised the bar for the anthology shows. It's like, if you had any dreams of being a narrator, you had to beat out the Crypt Keeper! Which really wasn't that easy. It had solid 7 seasons of horror not only that but launched a number of horror movies, comic books and even radio series! PLUS! It even had a spin-off Saturday morning cartoon! What a way to brighten up your Saturday mornings!

1. American Horror Story -- (2011-PRESENT)

This is such a bizarre approach to horror in general. The show itself has already received critical acclaim and just keeps on shooting out more episodes with such a STRONG story line. When I watched the first episode...more like the intro alone, I was BEYOND impress! It succeeds with not only older hauntings and evil intentions but it tied a struggling family in the mix as well. It's definitely one of my favorite shows currently!

**BONUS!** Grimm -- (2011-PRESENT)

I had to include this on the list! A show that deals with Grimm’s fairytales in the 21st century AND an ability to see demons for who they are? Love!

As always, I'd love to know your thoughts!
Do you have a favorite horror show? Or is there one I missed?

REMAKE ALERT -- Suspiria

David Gordon Green (Pineapple Express) has been talking about remaking Suspiria for a while, but now it's official! They will begin filming in September! A press release was issued today announcing that the project is moving forward and scheduled to begin filming this September. I have no idea why he would want to take the 1977 classic directed by the great Dario Argento to remake it; but ok. I guess he googled classic horror movies and figured he'd give it a stab.

It's going to be centered around Suzie, a bright, ambitious American student who travels to Europe to attend a prestigious ballet academy. This all occurs after a fellow student is brutally murdered along with other cruel homicides that disrupt the once quiet campus. Suzie notices that the once quiet campus may be hiding a huge secret.

So, as far as I know...casting is already underway! I bet you a million dollars there will be half naked bleached blondes!

Let's hope this film doesn't suck...even though director David Gordon Green says it'll closely follow the original. The script is very faithful to the original. It’s less about ballet and more of a story about the occult and a boarding school for girls in Germany…. I don’t want to emulate him or rip him off, I don’t want to do a shot for shot remake of it. But I do feel like it’s a springboard to a lot of huge and artful ideas.”

What's new to Netflix?

I'm on Netflix right now, seeing what's newly added to the streaming list and it seems like he horror offerings a little light! But it's okay, horror is horror! And I love it regardless. Below are the newly added horrifical horror added to Netflix!

UPCOMING FILM -- Silent Night, Deadly Night

The 1986 cult classic Silent Night, Deadly Night is officially being remade, with a genre icon taking on the lead role! Some reports say that filming will begin next month and Steven C. Miller is directing (The Aggression Scale).

It's going to be titled Silent Night and this film is going to star Malcolm McDowell. The film is pretty much going to tell the story of a police department searching for the killer Santa Claus who terrorizes their remote Midwestern town on Christmas Eve. It'll be released for the holiday season later on this year.

So...yeah, just letting you know!

FILM -- Born Bad

HOLY CRAP! I have no idea why I even bothered watching this movie! Born Bad was directed by Jared Cohn and I have no idea when it was released--sometime in 2011. It's about a teenage girl named Brooke (Bonnie Dennison) who with her family move to a new area. She's angry, moody, dumb & lonely because her overprotective Dad remarried and her stepmother is pregnant with her Dad's child.

So. She does what majority of insanely naive, too horny to function, hot-in-her-crotches teenage girls these days would do: rebel! She meets Denny, who is charming at first but then of course becomes obsessive, crazy and what not. Denny is an abuser, liar, cheater, cocaine-snorter, blackmailer, rapist, murder...my God, the list goes on! Who knows? He's probably a member of al-Qaeda.

And here's another thing that's just completely bananas: this boyfriend who was suppose to be playing the boyfriend from hell was played by Michael Welch from the Twilight movies. No, no, no...I love Twilight, actually--don't judge me, he was just such a nice boy from the movie and he'll forever be seen as a dork to me. And this dude just wanted to get his shine in this film as a cool, edgy dude since he's usually in the background with only a few lines during Twilight.

He didn't come off as terrifying. He actually just made me laugh during the movie. And obviously, I'm pretty sure that's not what the goal was! He was screaming 89.9% of the film and I'm pretty sure he needed a lozenger. His voice was so hoarse.

Ugh. Please don't judge me on watching this movie...let alone doing a review! As I was about 20 minutes into the movie, I realized this is a TOTAL bite off--yes, bite off of Fear (1996) starring Reese Witherspoon and Mark Wahlberg aka Marky Marky. Reese, too, plays an insanely naive, too horny to function, hot-in-her-crotches teenage girl. And her Dad is overprotective soooooo she meets Mark, whose charming and magical at first just like this funny face girl's crazy boyfriend in this film. Also. In this film, this girl only knew him for literally 3 days; and already, she banged like rabbits in the dirt and loved him. How exhausating! I don't recommend this movie to anyone...it sucked.

Anyhow, I guess Lifetime movies are trying to change their image on what films they show! I was going to give it 2 queen skulls because it made me laugh but that's not the films goal; so instead, 1 out of 5 queen skulls. Do something better with your time...don't be an a-hole like I was for watching and even doing a review on it.

UPCOMING HORROR -- John Carpenter's Darkchylde

It's been known for a while now that Randy Queen has been working on bringing his popular Darkchylde comic book to the big screen, but recently, it's been announced that John Carpenter will be directing!

Darkchylde is about a good hearted southern teen named Ariel Chylde, cursed to become the creatures from her many recurring nightmares. Every time Ariel transforms, she sheds her skin and a new nightmare emerges from her Id to act out her deepest, darkest impulses. So far, just the teaser poster (below!) has been released. It looks pretty snazzy, enticing me to know more about this film!
