REMAKE ALERT -- The Garbage Pail Kids

If you're not familiar with The Garbage Pail Kids, they were famous trading cards that kids adored in the 80s before it became a movie. It's not really horrific but I decided to post about it because there are some--I repeat, SOME horror qualities. I mean, mainly gross stuff, but whatever, it's my life and I'm posting about it! Anyway. Michael Eisner, the former CEO of Disney, is behind this genius idea to reck people's childhood since he can't seem to come up with an idea of his own. The film will be written by Michael Vukadinovich and directed by PES (Yes...that's what the director goes by).

[/RANT] I've been slowly accepting remakes, but why my beloved 80s gross classic The Garbage Kids! I freakin' love this film so much; it's ridiculous! How sad and totally unfortunate...

It just seems all the remakes that are being made shouldn't be touched at all! I know many people who don't care for this movie but it's so 80s and that's why I adore it! What a catastrophe! Clearly, companies and directors are all out of ideas. I'm just hoping that it'll be a good film and NOT full of crappy CGI and some random 11 year old Disney star singing/squealing through their braces some random song through the entire film! [/RANT]

Bleh...take a look at the ORIGINAL trailer!

  1. You're absolutely right on with your rant. I'm pretty dismayed that anyone would consider remaking such a dismal POS in the first place, much less something nobody remembers. Still, what bothers me even more is American remakes of contemporary foreign films (Silent House for example)

  2. Oh man the Garbage Pail Kids. I use to collect these cards when I was younger and till this day when I see packs of them in Target I pick them up haha. I always remember how weird the movie was. If you look up on youtube they also have the cartoon series as well.

  3. Honestly, this is exactly the kind of movie that SHOULD be remade. Something that either had a good idea or was based on an intellectual property, but failed somewhere in the execution. Give the idea a second chance to actually do it right (rather than remaking something that got it right the first time).

  4. Totally agree! They are messing with an 80s classic.

Also the theme song is great too.

"If you get sent to the Principal, you can be a Garbage Pail Kid!"

  6. Ill have to watch this again i remember being very young when my older brother put this on. I didnt have a clue what was going on.
Its funny how everything is getting a remake now. It seems like Hollywood has been running out of ideas for a while now. Best horror films i generally find are asian ones
