REMAKE ALERT -- Carrie

So once again there's going to be a Carrie remake. I lost count of how many Carrie's were made but...it's ok. Director Kim Peirce and MGM have decided to make the formal offer yesterday to Chloe Moretz.

Those of you who don't know young Chloe Moretz, she played many, many movies such a Amityville Horror--the remake, Kick-Ass, Let Me In, and the upcoming comedy horror Dark Shadows. So of course, I see why they offered the role to her! I have nothing against Chloe, she's an awesome actress and super cute!

However...I do wish they would have went for someone new and unknown. Then again...this world we live in does not like new and especially unknown. So, if she accepts, she'll play Carrie White, a shy high school girl who gets teased in school and has a religious fanatic nightmare of a Mother. But soon, she will come to discover her telepathic powers at the arrival of puberty. Of course, the big bang of the movie is when she's going to use her lethal powers against her classmates during prom.

In the original 1976 film, Sissy Spacek played Carrie White and did a pretty fantastical job! Whelp, let's all hope for the best...especially if we go to theaters to watch it and have to deal with squealing preteens with a mouth full of braces, cell phones with ultra neon lights to text, and their lethal, annoying, stab at the heart giggles.

  1. She accepted the role and I'm not sure how I feel about this. She's a fantastic actress but I can't really see her as Carrie White. Hopefully she can prove me and all the other non believers wrong. I'm pretty excited about this remake and I hope I'm not disappointed.

  2. It's tough to be excited about another remake, but it is good casting...might check it out when it comes to theaters.

  3. I seem to recall DePalmas original had an element of satire in it, surburban morals stuff like that. With er..the mum, i forget her name as this scary bible basher. If you read Stephen Kings early work it was really bad, i read The Shining awhile ago and it was painful. Remakes are so prevalent because of basic Kantian economics. The companys get so large, and have so much money their afraid to take risks and possibly lose money so they go for the safe remake of a past hit. Carrie was a god film though, funny how blood is at the start of the movie and at the end, and their both associated with trauma for the lead character.
