TEASER TRAILER -- Total Recall

Remakes are being made left and right...so here's another one! I adored the original one and even though it's not a horror, I had to post up the teaser trailer!

The official trailer is going to premiere this Sunday; HOWEVER, a thirty second teaser trailer for the upcoming Total Recall reboot has just been released. So, we can all get a first good look at some of what's to come! The film is scheduled to be released on August 3rd, 2012. It's directed by Len Wiseman and stars Colin Farrell, Kate Beckinsale, Jessica Biel, Ethan Hawke, Bill Nighy and Bryan Cranston.

I'm hoping that I'll enjoy this film when I check it out! Enjoy the teaser!

REMAKE ALERT -- Carrie

So once again there's going to be a Carrie remake. I lost count of how many Carrie's were made but...it's ok. Director Kim Peirce and MGM have decided to make the formal offer yesterday to Chloe Moretz.

Those of you who don't know young Chloe Moretz, she played many, many movies such a Amityville Horror--the remake, Kick-Ass, Let Me In, and the upcoming comedy horror Dark Shadows. So of course, I see why they offered the role to her! I have nothing against Chloe, she's an awesome actress and super cute!

However...I do wish they would have went for someone new and unknown. Then again...this world we live in does not like new and especially unknown. So, if she accepts, she'll play Carrie White, a shy high school girl who gets teased in school and has a religious fanatic nightmare of a Mother. But soon, she will come to discover her telepathic powers at the arrival of puberty. Of course, the big bang of the movie is when she's going to use her lethal powers against her classmates during prom.

In the original 1976 film, Sissy Spacek played Carrie White and did a pretty fantastical job! Whelp, let's all hope for the best...especially if we go to theaters to watch it and have to deal with squealing preteens with a mouth full of braces, cell phones with ultra neon lights to text, and their lethal, annoying, stab at the heart giggles.

UPCOMING HORROR -- Detention

I'm looking forward to seeing this movie so I thought it would be awesome to post up the poster! This film is going to be in limited theaters on April 13th! It's going up against The Cabin in The Woods, which is also opening that same day! It looks gory and extra witty...just the way I like it!

TOP 10 Underrated Horror Performances

We all have our favorite horror performances! We enjoy their well known status and give them their well deserved props. However! I notice there are plenty of horror performances that don't get nearly enough love! Of course, it can happen for plenty of reasons! Maybe the movie did horrible and not enough people watched it, so when you point out someone's performance in that movie, no one cares or no one knows what you're talking about! And it can happen for various reasons. But sometimes the film can be a huge a success for that year or the next 20 years--making it a cult classic later. Due to that, certain actors'/actresses' performances are outshined.

Anyway! Here are 10 performances that I feel haven’t received the credit they deserve. I wanted the focus to be on actors performances--so if you thought that film kinda blowed, well then, think back or watch the actors performance instead! Most likely, there are probably roles in here that get a fair amount of credit in the horror community but may be ignored beyond the horror world. No specific order!

10. Joe Spinell as Frank Zito in Maniac
I didn't really dig the movie Maniac too much but I can respect Joe Spinell's creation and role! He was a real creepy, sleaze bag who stalked women then killed them brutally. *SPOILER* He scalped the women and slapped the top of the hair/head on a mannequin in his grungy apartment. Mr. Spinell's performance impressed clown serial killer John Wayne Gacy so much, that he requested that he play him in a biopic! Sadly, Joe Spinell passed away in 1989 when he bled to death after accidentally cutting himself during a heart attack. May he RIP.

9.) Desmond Harrington as Jack Ferriman in Ghost Ship
I know a lot of people hated this film but I really liked it. He surprised me in this film, a must see!

8.) Nick Damici as Mister in Stake Land
I thought he did a great job! He was mysterious yet very affective in this film.

7.) Naomie Harris as Selena in 28 Days Later
Not only was she strong but she was a straight up beast and was quick to attack anyone and I mean ANYONE who was infected with the virus!

6.) Marcia Gay Harden as Mrs. Carmody in The Mist
She aggravated my life throughout this movie....so of course, if she had that affect, she definitely needed to be on the list!
5.) Bobby Rhodes as Tony the Pimp in Demons
A powerful pimp in a movie I consider a classic! "You look like you afraid of breakin things... like this!" Need I say more?

4.) Louis Tripp as Terry in The Gate
This movie used to really creep me out when I was younger! I know that a lot of people remember Stephen Dorff being in this film but what about the kid who played his friend? Louis Tripp aka Terry! That whole eyeball in his palm thing was very disturbing!

3.) Ty Burrell as Steve Marcus in Dawn of the Dead
I loved this remake of Dawn of the Dead because it was what a remake was supposed to be! Anyhow, Mr. Burrell in my opinion, stole the show! His performance was phenomenal and I wanted more of him!

2.) Cécile De France as Marie in Haute Tension or High Tension
I'm not too sure if people seen this movie because whenever I mention it, they say they haven't! Whelp...you need to!

1.) Jennifer Carpenter as Angela Vidal in Quarantine
I'd seen her in other movies/shows and she never really stuck out to me--that is until I saw this movie Quarantine! I loved her acting in this movie. Awesome job!

Do you agree? Do you disagree? Do you feel like I missed someone? Let me know by voicingghg your opinion below!

REMAKE ALERT -- The Garbage Pail Kids

If you're not familiar with The Garbage Pail Kids, they were famous trading cards that kids adored in the 80s before it became a movie. It's not really horrific but I decided to post about it because there are some--I repeat, SOME horror qualities. I mean, mainly gross stuff, but whatever, it's my life and I'm posting about it! Anyway. Michael Eisner, the former CEO of Disney, is behind this genius idea to reck people's childhood since he can't seem to come up with an idea of his own. The film will be written by Michael Vukadinovich and directed by PES (Yes...that's what the director goes by).

[/RANT] I've been slowly accepting remakes, but why my beloved 80s gross classic The Garbage Kids! I freakin' love this film so much; it's ridiculous! How sad and totally unfortunate...

It just seems all the remakes that are being made shouldn't be touched at all! I know many people who don't care for this movie but it's so 80s and that's why I adore it! What a catastrophe! Clearly, companies and directors are all out of ideas. I'm just hoping that it'll be a good film and NOT full of crappy CGI and some random 11 year old Disney star singing/squealing through their braces some random song through the entire film! [/RANT]

Bleh...take a look at the ORIGINAL trailer!

TRAILER -- ParaNorman

Another film to keep your eyes peeled for is this comedy thriller about a small town that becomes zombie infested! But have no fear, someone who the whole town (possibly the world) can depend on is the misunderstood local boy Norman. Now, Norman is able to talk to the dead. That would be cool and safe if all he had to do is talk to zombies, but he'll also have to take on ghosts and witches just so he can save his town from a centuries-old curse. I can already sense that young Norman may find his paranormal activities pushed to the limits! Good luck, Normy!

ParaNorman will be released August 17th, 2012!

UPCOMING FILM -- Dark Shadows

I just had to post about this film because I'm really interested in checking it out! It's going to be released May 11th, 2012 and is directed by Tim Burton.

The film focuses on Barnabas Collins (Johnny Depp) who transforms into a vampire after an encounter with a woman. He's buried but then gets dug up and attempts to reintegrate with his descendants! Unfortunately for Barnabas Collins, it doesn't stay simple. He'll have many run-ins with various monsters, ghosts, and supernatural creatures. Oh joy!

Anyhow, here are some pictures from the film to enjoy!

Upcoming Horrors for March 2012!

I'm about 3 days late! I'm so sorry--my traveling plans interfered, but no excuses! On to the horrors that will be coming out this month! Whether it's straight to DVD or theaters, here is the list of horrors coming out this month! As always, if you've already checked any of the two out, please let me know; or if you plan on checking any out...let me know anyway!

The Pack - RELEASE DATE: March 6th, 2012!

In this film, there just so happens to be a beautiful yet strong girl who's driving a beat-up station wagon in the countryside of northern France. Of course her magical journey takes a turn when she picks up an oh so mysterious hitchhiker. When they stop at a diner, her new little friend disappears. Then suddenly, our main girl finds herself knocked out and held captive as her blood is being used to nourish and feed a pack of flesh eating monsters.

Dark Tide - RELEASE DATE: March 8th, 2012!

A shark naturalist and documentarian have been reluctant to re-enter the water since the tragic loss of their mentor. I'm not sure which role Halle Berry plays, however, the surprise arrival of her character's old partner and boyfriend, Jeff (Olivier Martinez), convinces her to face her inner demons and get back in the water with the fiercest of predators.

Silent House - RELEASE DATE: March 9th, 2012!

A young woman with a troubled childhood is visiting her family’s isolated summer house with her father and uncle. Soon, they realize they are NOT alone in the house. I MUST see this! This movie is a remake by the way!

Hunger Games - RELEASE DATE: March 23rd, 2012!

It's post-apocalyptic America and it's about a 16-year-old heroine Katniss Everdeen, who must participate in a fight to the death annual event called the Hunger Games! The battles are televised, blah--blah. It's from Scholastic books and it kinda sounds like Battle Royale but hey, who knows?

The Raid: Redemption - RELEASE DATE: March 23rd, 2012!

A member of a special forces team goes to a rundown apartment building with a mission to remove its owner who's a notorious drug lord. The building has become pretty popular to all the killers, gangs, rapists and thieves. Somehow this special force member and his crew's cover gets blown and now they must fight through every floor and every room to complete this mission while trying to stay alive!

Monster Brawl - RELEASE DATE: March 27th, 2012!

In a Pay-Per-View main event style film, monsters compete in a visceral bloody combat in the ring to determine the most powerful monster of all time! Ohhhh! Sounds fun!

Intruders - RELEASE DATE: March 30th, 2012!

The film centers on an 11-year-old girl who is forced to confront her childhood demons.

Happy Horror!
